TAYLOR SENT ME SOME PICTURES OF EVINRUDE SKIMMER SNOWMOBILES.
Blue suit is Andy Taylor ( TOP PICTURE ), on the Evinrude Skimmer snowmobile. PICTURES BELOW ARE...... Andy Taylor, My brother Peter and wife, brother in law Darrell and wife, me and Diane. We had rented a U Haul truck for the machines. This was trip to New Hampshire in 1978 or 1979. DAVE TAYLOR ALSO WROTE THE FOLLOWING...... Hi David Actually, I had been sent several new Skimmers from OMC with the agreement that if none sold they would go back to OMC. Andy called to say he was coming down to Richmond and he could take any of the machines in stock to run for the weekend. We were at a country bar watching the snowmobiles coming and going. There were 4 machines racing across the lake and this one machine was passing all the rest and going like a bat out of hell. It was Andy ! We were amazed with its acceleration and power and if he had not taken the Skimmer we probably would not have sold any. Skimmers were produced for only 3 years when OMC pulled the plug on snowmobiles. We soid about a dozen, they were high quality and built to automotive standards, light years ahead of all the other brands. Snowmobile manufacturers were dropping like flies and OMC was one of them. I rode my 400cc for 3 years. Dave Taylor
